Appearance
Milan Rastislav Štefánik was a diplomat, soldier and astronomer from Slovakia (1880—1919). He travelled a lot; he was on Tahiti in May 1910 to see the comet of Halley (clouded out), then went via New Zealand to Vavaʻu. On the top of the Fungamisi, he observed the tolal solar eclipse of 29 April 1911 (blue sky), performing scientific measurements. His telescope pedestal still remains nowadays as a remembrance stone.
